Mohamad Salmawy scored his first stage success in 1984 with the double-bill Come back Tomorrow and Next in line, which won the acclaim of both the public and critics and placed Salmawy almost overnight among the ranks of Egypt's most prominent playwrights. Of all Mohamad salmawy's plays, Two Down the Drain is perhaps the most popular, with its roaring, albeit bitter, comedy, and its realistic portrayal of contemporary Egyptian life. it has had several successful revivals since its première at the National Theatre in 1987. It is translated here into English for the first time.
